I was on Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maarten this week.
We are back from our first complete cruise. Another 7 to go. It is changing day for the guests and crew. Some of the guests stay longer on board. I meet these people once a week on the helicopter deck. Every Tuesday there is a champagne party for what I call the ”rich and famous” This week there was a beautiful young lady with a silver-white sash round her shoulder, it happened to be Miss Alaska. Oh yes she fancied me, but just for a couple of photo’s. I gave her my card and hope she will mail the nicest photo’s.
The Interstate 95, (I-95, called after the I-95 from New York to Miami) this is the corridor running from front to the back of this ship on deck 2, was full with trolley’s last night. During the night all the lifts are more or less blocked and all these trolley’s are taken to the staterooms to transport all the cases. Between 6000 and 10.000 pieces in and out... I had a look this morning on the top deck. Lorries are waiting, leaving and arriving. Loading and un loading. I saw a new supply of hundreds of deckchairs coming in with 10 individually packed in big boxes. Left and right of the I-95 are work spaces, what a mess all this paper and wooden frames. In the back of the ship is the entry for the fresh food supply, it goes in big freezers, but this has to be sorted out as well. It is always cold and slippery here, I’m really glad I don’t have to work in this place. What a sight for sour eyes.... And these are just two of the things happening today. Deck 2 and the quay it: looks like an ants nest. And all this security....everywhere....
I’m really glad I’m a musician and don’t have to deal with all this stress.
I do my gig’s, talk to people have a nice time and enjoy myself. Sometimes it is a big laugh, like Thursday playing for the kids activities the requests: Twinkle twinkle little star, Bla bla black sheep and London bridge is falling down... There are more songs to come but I have to work it out first.
After this I sat on a beautifully hand carved horse in the roundabout and playing....
I did my books for AF d Z today, it all tallies. What a wonderful team we have, they let me enjoy a nice (school) holiday. Cash management is taken care of, I download the bank specifications in excel and from this piece I do the books.
I hear it is sunny in the Netherlands, I hope the ZS 13 is fully booked and you all enjoy the sailings. I will catch up with you all after September. It is very hot here, but sorry, I’m not jealous.

Richard:

Jan And Susan:
Dear Joeb,
Very glad to hear you are settling in well and are now starting to enjoy yourself. In your first verslag you seemed a bit lost!
Cecelia has told me you have received your first pay-check. Are you going to start living it up or keep it under the mattress?
It is raining here so very jealous of you in the world of paradise.
Love Jan and Susan -

Emily:
Hallo Joeb,
